The Living
Wu Style Taijiquan Encyclopedia
Grandmaster Zhou Zhongfu stands as a paramount figure in the contemporary landscape, representing the orthodox transmission of Wu Style Taijiquan. As a direct lineage descendant tracing his pedigree through Master Fei Guoqing to the legendary Grandmaster Ma Yuehliang, Sifu Zhou occupies a critical position in the genealogy of the Wu family style.
His role is not merely that of an instructor but that of a custodian of a cultural legacy that spans over a century of Chinese history. From his early formative years in Shanghai, influenced by his father Zhou Qingxian, to his establishment of a European base in Athens and his strategic leadership at the Eternal Spring Institute in Madeira, Sifu Zhou preserves the "small frame" mechanics of authentic Wu Taijiquan.
Martial Foundations & Legacy

Square and Round
A central theme in Sifu Zhou's pedagogy is the relationship between the Square Form (Fang Quan) and the Round Form (Yuan Quan). He teaches that the Square Form is the "calibration" phase—involving distinct stops and angular positioning to ensure skeletal alignment.
"Without the discipline of the Square Form, the Round Form becomes empty or sloppy. I teach my students that the 'leaning' posture is not a lean, but a precise geometric alignment of heel to crown."
Fast Form (Kuai Quan)
As one of the few proponents of the Wu Style Fast Form, Sifu Zhou preserves the explosive martial engine of the style—featuring jumping kicks, stomping, and the high-frequency internal vibration (neijin) that distinguishes authentic Wu family transmission.
"The empty-hand techniques are merely the pole techniques performed without the weapon. To manipulate the tip effectively, you cannot use the shoulder muscles alone; you must connect the pole to the dantian."
