Fujian White Crane

The Fujian White Crane System of the Eternal Spring Institute

The Fujian White Crane curriculum offered at the Eternal Spring Institute is a unique and
comprehensive curriculum based on the official curriculum of the International Weng Chun
and Fujian White Crane association out of Hong Kong set up by Sifu Sunny So and Sifu
Sergio Pascal Iadarola with as honorary president Sifu Lee Kong it preserves the original
Fujian White Crane in its pure, unaltered form from before the division into the 5
subsystems, the Eternal Spring Institute teaches the complete, original system that predates
these later adaptations. This system furthermore holds a direct historical and technical
connection to Wing Chun, making it a key ancestor art in the curriculum of the Eternal Spring
Institute
Fujian White Crane System

The Fujian White Crane system as taught at the Eternal Spring Institute predates the five
well-known Crane sub-styles that later emerged namely:

1. Whooping Crane
2. Flying Crane
3. Jumping Crane
4. Sleeping Crane
5. Feeding Crane

While these sub-styles are more widely recognized today, each represents a fusion with
other martial arts systems, leading to variations in techniques, forms, and philosophies. For
example:
● Whooping Crane was influenced by Lohan Fist (an ancient Buddhist martial art).
● Jumping Crane and Flying Crane incorporated additional movements and principles
from local Southern Chinese fighting arts.
In contrast, the White Crane system taught at the Eternal Spring Institute is the pure, original
Fujian White Crane, passed down before these adaptations took place. This original system
is preserved without external influences, making it a rare and valuable martial art.
The Lineage of the Fujian White Crane System at the Eternal Spring
Institute

The Eternal Spring Institute has a direct and authentic lineage to the pure Fujian White
Crane system, ensuring the complete transmission of the original art to its students. The
lineage is as follows:

● Sifu Cheng Man Long
● Sifu Lee Kong – The current lineage holder of the original Fujian White Crane
system in Hong Kong.
● Sifu Sunny So – A direct student of Sifu Lee Kong.
● Sifu Sergio, Sifu Christian Cedillo, and Sifu David Chenut – Senior instructors
responsible for preserving and transmitting the complete Fujian White Crane system
at the Eternal Spring Institute.

This direct lineage guarantees that the system taught at the Institute is authentic and
unaltered, preserving the core principles and practices of the original White Crane system.
The Connection Between Fujian White Crane and Wing Chun

One of the most remarkable aspects of the Eternal Spring Institute’s curriculum is the clear
connection between the Fujian White Crane system and the 1700’s part of the internal Wing
Chun curriculum as taught at the Institute. These crossovers and similarities are very visible
when studying the unaltered, original systems.
Both the Fujian White Crane curriculum and the 1700’s internal Wing Chun curriculum
share:

● Soft, internal energy principles and concepts
● Explosive, efficient power using Ging rather then lik
● Emphasis on sensitivity and intention (Yi)
● Short-range combat techniques
● Rooting and specialised Tendon cultivation exercises

These shared concepts highlight a few of the historical relationships between the two arts.
Fujian White Crane is a key ancestor art of the Ancient Single set Siu Lin Tau as taught in
the 1700’s internal Wing Chun curriculum, and understanding its core principles provides
deeper insight into Wing Chun’s internal mechanics and Internal energy cultivation.
Why the Eternal Spring Institute’s White Crane System is Unique
The Eternal Spring Institute is in a unique position to teach the pure Fujian White Crane
system for several reasons:

1. Direct Lineage: The Institute has a direct link to Sifu Lee Kong, the current lineage
holder in Hong Kong, ensuring an authentic transmission of the original system.
2. Unaltered System: Unlike many other martial arts schools that teach the modern
Crane sub-styles, the Institute preserves the original White Crane system without
external influences, making it one of the few places in the world where this pure
ancestor art can be learned.
3. Crossovers with Wing Chun: The connection between White Crane and Wing
Chun is clearly demonstrated in the Institute’s curriculum, providing students with a
unique opportunity to explore the roots of internal Wing Chun through its ancestral
Crane system.
4. Experienced Instructors: The system is taught by Sifu Sergio, Sifu Christian
Cedillo, and Sifu David Chenut, all of whom have extensive knowledge of both Wing
Chun and Fujian White Crane. Their expertise ensures that students receive
high-level instruction in both arts.

Preserving a Rare and Important Martial Art

The Eternal Spring Institute’s Fujian White Crane Curriculum is a rare and invaluable martial
art program preserving one of the original ancestor arts of internal Wing Chun Kuen. By
offering the pure, unaltered White Crane system, the Institute provides students with deep
insights into the roots of Wing Chun, while also preserving a key piece of martial arts history.
Students at the Institute have the unique opportunity to learn a system that has been largely
forgotten in the modern martial arts world, connecting them to a rich legacy of internal
energy cultivation, combat efficiency, and philosophical depth.
